Mya Sackrey's two-out single scored Hadlye Sackrey with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, as Brookfield rallied and then held off Trenton, 6-5, in yesterday's varsity softball action. Trailing 5-2, Hadlye Sackrey (3 runs, 2 walks, 1B) opened the top of the seventh with a base hit. Trenton managed two quick outs, before Jerzi Fields (2 BB, run) coaxed a walk. Greenlee McCollum followed with a double, driving in both baserunners and cutting the deficit to 5-4. Gracyn Beckman (RBI, 2 singles, BB, SB) then plated McCollum (2 RBI, 2B, BB, sac bunt, run) with a single, sending the game to the home half of the seventh. Emma Sensenich pitching in relief, set Trenton down in order before Mya Sackrey's (2 RBI, BB, sac fly, SB, run) heroics in the extra frame and then induced a bases-loaded pop-up to second in the eighth to earn the win. Sensenich allowed one run on no hits, while walking three and fanning three over four innings of work.
The JV team cruised to a 10-3 victory.
