Brookfield stumbled out of the blocks early against a talented team, but played a respectable second half, falling to Palmyra, 53-36, in girls varsity basketball last night.
Greenlee McCollum collected 18 points and three rebounds to lead the 'Dogs, who trailed 14-3 at the end of the opening quarter and 27-11 at the half.
"They're the best team we’ve seen this season," Coach Thomason said. "They applied intense defensive pressure. Overall, I'm very proud of the way they handled the adversity. We are starting to come around and playing more to our capabilities."
Maddie Wilbeck (5 rebounds, 2 assists) netted six points, and Jerzi Fields (3 rebounds, assist, steal) and Gracyn Beckman (6 rebounds) each added three points.
Madi Lumsden (4 rebounds, assist), Emma Sensenich (2 rebounds, assist) and Haven Stufflebean had two points apiece.
Emma Meyer (assist, steal), Maggie Bennett (2 assists) and Breckin Thudium (rebound) also contributed for the Bulldogs, who shot 75% from the foul line for the second straight night.
The Lady Bulldogs (6-9) travel to Highland on Friday.
