Mistakes were the demise for Brookfield in its 57-29 loss to Fayette in Monday night's varsity girls basketball contest.

The Bulldogs started well and led 9-6, courtesy of a Greenlee McCollum three in the final seconds of the opening quarter. But the wheels soon fell off, as the Falcons soared ahead in the next eight minutes, ignited by a 21-2 run, and never looked back. The Bulldogs committed 23 turnovers, leading to 33 points.

Madi Lumsden (2 assists, steal) led the 'Dogs with game-highs of eight points and nine rebounds, while Maddie Wilbeck (2 rebounds, 2 assists) had seven points and McCollum (4 rebounds, 2 assists, steal) added six points.

Emma Sensenich (rebound assist) scored four points, and Jerzi Fields (3 rebounds, assist) and Emma Meyer (2 rebounds) each had two points. Maggie Bennett (3 rebounds, 2 steals, assist), Breckin Thudium (2 steals, assist, rebound) and Haven Stufflebean (rebound) also contributed.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-16) host Monroe City tonight in their regular season finale.
