Stoked by a 20-8 third-quarter run, Putnam County rallied and then held on, slipping past Brookfield, 41-39, in Monday's opening round of the Tri-Rivers Classic Girls Tournament.

Maddie Wilbeck scored a game-high 13 points and had two rebounds, two assists and a steal for the Bulldogs, who were once again derailed by a substandard quarter after building a lead. The 'Dogs fell victim to an 18-3 fourth-quarter run in their season-opening loss to Westran.

Madi Lumsden (7 rebounds, 3 steals, assist) scored 11 points and Greenlee McCollum (6 rebounds, 3 assists, steal) had 10 points, while Emma Meyer (4 rebounds) added three points and Breckin Thudium chipped in two points. Gracyn Beckman had five rebounds and an assist.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-2) look to play a complete game in Wednesday's second-round T-RC tilt against Knox County at Schuyler County. The Eagles dropped a 48-40 decision to North Shelby in its opening tournament game.
