Brookfield dropped a 73-58 decision to top-seeded Schuyler County in Monday's opening round of the Tri-Rivers Classic Boys Tournament. A sluggish first half had the Bulldogs down by 13 at the half, but fueled by an 18-11 third-quarter run, they clawed to within six points midway through the fourth quarter. The rally stalled, but the 'Dogs arguably played their best game of the young season.

Hayden DeJong poured in 28 points, draining five threes (4 in the second half), while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing two assists. Hank Parks collected 12 points, seven assists and five boards, and Bryson Shoop had nine points, three assists and three boards.

John Walgren, who shut down the Rams' best player in the second half, finished with six points, and Kendrell Carter added two points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs play North Shelby in Wednesday's second-round T-RC matchup at Schuyler County. The opening tip is at 7:30.
